Dr Geir Bjornholdt LRCP,LRCS (Ireland) Dip. Obs FRNZCGP
Dr Bjornholdt qualified from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
He has a wide variety of experience form hospitals and general practice from Canada, Norway and South Africa before arriving here with his physiotherapy wife Vasantha (who he met and married in Dublin) and their 2 children – in 1987.
They both worked at the Whangarei Hospital before establishing the Tui Medical Centre in April 1990.
Dr Bjornholdt has completed a certificate in Sports medicine from Otago University and achieved a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynecology from Auckland University.
He has a certificate in skin cancer medicine and surgery . His special interest is in skin cancer surgery . He is contracted to the hospital for this work.
Dr Kylie Cox MBChB FRNZCGP
Kylie grew up in Parua Bay. In her 5th year of medical training she lived in Dannevirke and worked at the Medical Centre there as part of the Rural Medicine Immersion Programme. It was during this year that Kylie decided she wanted to specialise as a General Practitioner. She graduated from Otago University in 2011, and moved back home to Whangarei to work at Whangarei Hospital as a House Officer before entering the GP training scheme. She received her Fellowship for the Royal NZ College of GPs in January 2017.
Dr Sophie Hesling
Sophie grew up in Canada but don’t let her accent fool you. She has spent almost 2 decades living in New Zealand. She has also spent some time in Mexico and understands some Spanish.
She studied at Auckland Medical school and moved to Northland after spending a year here as part of her training. Sophie has worked at Whangarei hospital and also completed a post graduate diploma of paediatrics as well as a diploma in obstetrics and gynaecology.
In her free time she likes gardening, cooking and traveling.
Dr Catherine MacMillan
Catherine grew up in Rural Wisconsin in the United States. Graduated from Des Moines University in 1997 and completed a 3 year Board Certified Family Practice Residency with a focus on Women’s Medicine and Dermatology. She has worked in a variety of Clinic and Hospital settings including Rural and Urban. Moved to New Zealand in 2013 to the Far North for a year. She has been working in Mount Maunganui for the last 3 years. She has 1 daughter, 17, who is finishing up College this year. She is engaged to be married and returning to the Northland to be with her Fiancé.
Hobbies: Fishing, Tramping, Swimming, Running, Yoga and Gardening.
Catherine will take over Kate Harding’s practice on September 19th. Dr Harding will still be attached to the practice but in a locum capacity
